Source: Nepal folk
Composer: Buddhi Pariyar, Father of Dharmendra Sewan Second (Nepali Tara 1)
Lyrics

Resham firiri, resham firiri
Udeyara jounkee dandaa ma bhanjyang
Resham firiri

Ek nale banduk, dui nale banduk, mirga lai take ko
Mirga lai mailey take ko hoeina maya lai daukey ko

Resham firiri, resham firiri
Udeyara jounkee dandaa ma bhanjyang
Resham firiri

KukuroLai Kuti Kuti Biralolai Suri
Timro Ra Hamro Mayapirti Dobatoma Kuri

Resham firiri, resham firiri
Udeyara jounkee dandaa ma bhanjyang
Resham firiri

Aakash ma Jahaz, sadak ma motor na bhaye gada cha
Yo mana jasto tiyo mana bhaye tagati gada cha

Resham firiri, resham firiri
Udeyara jounkee dandaa ma bhanjyang
Resham firiri

Saano ma sano gaiko bachho bhirai ma, Ram, Ram
Chodreh jauna sakena mailey, baru maya songhai jaum

Resham firiri, resham firiri
Udeyara jounkee dandaa ma bhanjyang
Resham firiri

Kodo charyo, makai charyo, dhan chareko chaina
Pachi, pachina au kanchi manpareko chaina.

Resham firiri, resham firiri
Udeyara jounkee dandaa ma bhanjyang

I love this song too and i am trying to learn it. I have listened to it and written down the lyrics, but i couldn’t understand the meaning of these two paragraphs:

Kukur ra lai kuti ma kuti
    Bira lulai su ri
    Timro haamro maya preti
    Doh batro ma kuri

    Aakas ma jaahaz
    Sarak ma moter
    Naba yeh ghanra chah
    Yomana jaastoh
    Toeh mana bahay
    Taa dhati dhara chah

Any kind Nepali brother to help me?

  • Hiiii,
    Sorry for late reply
    was bussssssyyyyyyyyy :))
I used to sing this song during my childhood days

Kukur(Dog) ra lai kuti ma kuti
    Biralu (Cat) lai suri
Timro (your) haamro (mine) maya (love) preeti (Love)
Do bato (two roads – cross roads) ma kuri (waiting)

(To the dog it’s puppy, puppy, to the cat it’s meow meow
our love is waiting at the crossroads)

Aakas (Aeroplane) ma jaahaz(Aeroplane) : (Aeroplane in the Sky)
Sarak(Road) ma moter : (Motor on the Roads)
Nabaye (if not) gada (Bullock cart) cha (if not then there is Bullock cart)
Yo (this) manna (Heart) jaasto (like)
    Tiyo (that) manna (heart) bhaye
    Taa gati dhara chah

(Aeroplane in the Sky, Motor on the roads, if not then Bullock cart
If your heart feels the same as mine then… )

I can’t translate the last line

    Dear Friend,

Really thanks for the posting. I just got to Pokhara and coincidentally listened to Resham Firiri and I am so in love with this song right away. I can just dance with this song and never feel tired of it.

“Taa gati dhara chah” Could this mean – then flow/move on to the path?
    gati – path?
    dhara – move, flow?
Just guessing, I don’t know Nepali at all.
